Massaro's
When the owners of Massaro’s approached Glo Creative for assistance in creating a brand concept for their new artisan deli and espresso bar in Cambridge they knew exactly what sort of message they wanted to communicate. The visual brand had to convey their traditional values and focus on authentic artisan foods but yet still be modern and fresh.
Joint owners of Massaro’s, Elaine Smith and Andrea Massaro, worked with the Glo Creative team to create a brand that expressed their core values of genuine quality and taste whilst still being contemporary. It was important the brand was polished and professional but set them apart from clone franchises on the high street.
Andrea Massaro first discovered Planglow and their Glo Creative service at an exhibition. Drawn in by the eco-friendly but attractive looking packaging Planglow provides he then also chose Glo Creative to work on creating the Massaro’s branding and external shop signage.
Working with a palette of blue, cream and brown chosen by Andrea and Elaine Glo Creative designer, Kerry Mundy, chose to incorporate the contrasting burnt orange to further enhance the retro feel of the brand. Mixed together with imagery of traditional Italian utensils to uphold core brand ethics of quality artisan food.
“We stylised an existing font to give it a more retro feel to compliment the classic Italian design of the furnishings and colour palette, but Massaro’s still wanted the brand to be modern, so we kept the brand clean and minimalist to produce an airy contemporary image.” Kerry Mundy, Senior Designer.
